Khenpo Sherab PhuntsokFarewell to Khenpo Sherab Phuntsok

On March 22, students of Vajra Vidya Institute organised a small gathering as a farewell to Khenpo Sherab Phuntsok. All staff, and students gathered at shrine hall, and showed their gratitude and aspirations for Khenpo’s next step.
Khenpo Sherab Phuntsok will go to retreat for four years at Thrangu Shekhar Retreat centre, Bhaktapur, Nepal, which may begin from second week of April.
Khenpo is one of the excellent teachers, who gave his marvellous service of more than 15 years at Vajra Vidya Institute. <read full biography>

thrangu RinpocheCelebrating Rinpoche’s Birthday

On November 21, our great guru Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche’s 83rd birthday was celebrated at VVI as well. This year, we are very fortunate to celebrate his birthday in presence of him.
On this very day, early in the morning around half past 2 am, all the sangha community gathered at the main shrine hall to perform Tsedrup puja, a long life prayer.
The main celebration began at 9 am. Rinpoche was welcomed at the shrine hall and all the monks, nuns, and lay followers offered khata, white scarf to Rinpoche, and continued with long life prayers, body mind speech offerings. The monks and nuns also dedicated poems to Rinpoche. The teachers and students of Central University of Tibetan Studies (CUTS) also attended the ceremony.
Afternoon program was followed by cake cutting ceremony at 3 pm. Monks and nuns also performed debate.

thrangu RinpocheTsedrup Puja being performed

Tsedrup puja, Amitayus prayer for long life is being performed at VVI prior to our guru Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche's 83rd birthday, which is on November 21.
All the khenpos, students of Vajra Vidya Institute, as well as Thrangu Tara Abbey shedra nuns are performing the the puja. The nuns came all the way from Lumbini, Nepal to join the puja, and Rinpohce's birthday celebration.

thrangu RinpocheVajra Vidya Seminar begins

The annual Vajra Vidya Seminar, teachings by V.V. ninth Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, started on November 9 and it will be held till November 20. This year Rinpoche is giving teaching on Mipham Rinpoche’s “The Lamp that Dispels Darkness.”

Note: Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche will also teach on "Vomiting Gold" by Khenpo Gangshar Wangpo during Namo Buddha Serminar in Nepal at SMD school, Boudha, Kathmandu. It will be held from April 6-10, 2016 (new dates).
